February stirs deep underground

Rambling:
As I sit to begin writing this month’s ramblings.. we are facing an extreme cold warning. -50 degree wind chills.. lasting 48 hours or so with freezing cold week to follow. With the peripheral awareness that there is extremely scary weather coming for the south. Ice, snow and cold in places where this weather isn’t often seen. It truly feels like a “the Gods must be angry” sort of moment. And frankly, they have a lot to be pissed off about. And this grumbling speaks to the vibe of February! A month has passed since new year (or is it a decade? LOL) and in early earth religions, people became aware that there was a little deep rumbling within the soil. A stirring. The first stretch of roots down deep. Wiggling their little toes in preparation of the soil thawing. Seed catalogs arrive and promise green and lush summers to come. And while there isn’t a lot of outward show here in the Northwoods, there is a feeling of it. What a potent reminder that there are things happening behind the scenes. Foundations being laid. Changes waiting on the timing. I think this speaks very much to the cosmic shifts that are happening this year. And despite our discomfort, fear and shock.. if we are here in this moment.. we are meant to live through it all.
Whether or not you believe in astrology.. there are some big things happening. Planets changing their alignments. Asking us to look at things very differently. This is also happening within people. Our witnessing process.. our level of ‘bullshit barometer’ changing... our awareness that certain people and situations just might not make the ‘cut’ in our lives. That’s ok. Slow down. Allow. Grieve. Be discerning with your own eyes and ears. Be truthful in your words. Do things out in the world (both close and afar) that reflect your deep knowing of what your soul has aligned with your heart. Balance this with a deep acknowledgment of how everyone is being affected and the systemic realities that got us here. The seasons change and we are changing. Right now we can’t always ‘see’ the change.. but like the vibe of February, shifts and changes sometimes need to be burbling under the ground before they are ready to emerge.
We have found ourselves in a very unsettled moment in time. There have been other transitional moments in history and there will be more. People who run things will always want to run things.. privilege hates challenge. The folks who have things to hide will create diversions and chaos to keep things hidden. All in an effort protect themselves, individually. But we have something much more potent. Creativity. Boldness. Necessity. And a clearer mirror and eye for what is. Which makes us far more powerful. Our willingness to protect each other (and this has been especially visual in Minneapolis) is something none of them possess.
The Spider Web Oracle this month speaks to finding the space to allow for future growth. The kind that rumbles and stretches underground. Not everything will happen at once and the most important thing at this moment is to sit in safe spaces, with people who share your vision, and build your offerings slowly. Energy portal: Protection Magic
These days, we definitely feel like our boundaries need a little beefing up. Whether that is scrubbing up our digital protection, home/land protection, people protection.. whatever. There are plenty of magical options to energetically make your space a little less alluring for generalized ‘yuck’. Much of this is literally about your internal/heart vibe. Like attracts like. And fear encourages fear. Even if this is just about perspective. If you are seeing the world through the prism of fear.. things will look scarier. And frankly, shit is weird enough .. thank you very much. So, let’s walk through the world with awareness but not the anticipation of danger. Plus, we can enlist a few little tools to keep out the crap.
First, I love using mirrors to ‘bounce’ energy back to the sender. You know those cheap little bags of mirrors you can find in craft shops? I love to glue them back to back with string thru the center of them and then tying other bits and bobs on them for protection. Like what? Well, ash or elder tree twigs.. bones.. obsidian ... tourmaline.. or anything that feels like protection to you. Create your dangly, mirrored string and hang on your front porch, at the end of your driveway or anywhere you feel you need to stop the flow of bad energy. Hell! Hang a dozen! Next, salt is a great ‘line in the sand’ when placed with that intention. Grab a box of salt and choose a little mantra or prayer that feels like a strong wall; then create a boundary from negative energy. Sprinkle away! Doorways, window wells, property lines, driveway entrances, etc. This same action can be done with tourmaline infused water, tar water, sage infused water or water with essential oils of frankincense, myrrh or sage as well. Don’t have any of those? Salt water works too!
And if you feel you need to carry around a protection talisman.. simply go and check out your jewelry box or pile of crystals. Ask which piece wants to be a protection amulet. Whichever ring, necklace, bracelet, stone, etc wants to come forward should be cleansed (smoke or simply water if water safe) and then sit with your piece and ask for the type of protection you wish. A big boundary around you? Envision it! Does it look like a bubble? A gate? Concrete? LOL! Just imagine the level of protection you wish and once you have infused it with your intention.. set it out on a full moon night to charge it up. Oracle led compass: Take a moment to discern
Arachnaphobics.. don’t look away! I know spiders have an instant fear factor for many but these mystical creatures have many lessons to teach. This month the Tarantula is a bringer of many of the concepts that the Spider Web and February echo. Tarantula comes to us when we need to be strategic, patient and aware. Walking a bit slower. Listening to the words not being said.. but expressed through the body. Discerning with your body and your intuition. This has a little bit of spider WEB vibe. Any pluck on a string can be felt throughout the whole. And tarantula wants you to gather your energy, your skills, your gifts and simply await the moment to share. You will know when the person, situation or group is ready to receive your offerings. Whether that is a skill share.. an actual, tangible item or simply your energy.. when you know, you’ll know. And then it will be time to pounce!
